New Living Translation | English Standard Version |
O God, have mercy on me, for people are hounding me. My foes attack me all day long. | 1Be gracious to me, O God, for man tramples on me; all day long an attacker oppresses me; |
I am constantly hounded by those who slander me, and many are boldly attacking me. | 2my enemies trample on me all day long, for many attack me proudly. |
But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in you. | 3When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. |
I praise God for what he has promised. I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me? | 4In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me? |
They are always twisting what I say; they spend their days plotting to harm me. | 5All day long they injure my cause; all their thoughts are against me for evil. |
They come together to spy on me— watching my every step, eager to kill me. | 6They stir up strife, they lurk; they watch my steps, as they have waited for my life. |
Don’t let them get away with their wickedness; in your anger, O God, bring them down. | 7For their crime will they escape? In wrath cast down the peoples, O God! |
You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book. | 8You have kept count of my tossings; put my tears in your bottle. Are they not in your book? |
My enemies will retreat when I call to you for help. This I know: God is on my side! | 9Then my enemies will turn back in the day when I call. This I know, that God is for me. |
I praise God for what he has promised; yes, I praise the LORD for what he has promised. | 10In God, whose word I praise, in the LORD, whose word I praise, |
I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me? | 11in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can man do to me? |
I will fulfill my vows to you, O God, and will offer a sacrifice of thanks for your help. | 12I must perform my vows to you, O God; I will render thank offerings to you. |
For you have rescued me from death; you have kept my feet from slipping. So now I can walk in your presence, O God, in your life-giving light. | 13For you have delivered my soul from death, yes, my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of life. |
