New Living Translation | Christian Standard Bible |
It is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praises to the Most High. | 1It is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praise to your name, Most High, |
It is good to proclaim your unfailing love in the morning, your faithfulness in the evening, | 2to declare your faithful love in the morning and your faithfulness at night, |
accompanied by a ten-stringed instrument, a harp, and the melody of a lyre. | 3with a ten-stringed harp and the music of a lyre. |
You thrill me, LORD, with all you have done for me! I sing for joy because of what you have done. | 4For you have made me rejoice, LORD, by what you have done; I will shout for joy because of the works of your hands. |
O LORD, what great works you do! And how deep are your thoughts. | 5How magnificent are your works, LORD, how profound your thoughts! |
Only a simpleton would not know, and only a fool would not understand this: | 6A stupid person does not know, a fool does not understand this: |
Though the wicked sprout like weeds and evildoers flourish, they will be destroyed forever. | 7though the wicked sprout like grass and all evildoers flourish, they will be eternally destroyed. |
But you, O LORD, will be exalted forever. | 8But you, LORD, are exalted forever. |
Your enemies, LORD, will surely perish; all evildoers will be scattered. | 9For indeed, LORD, your enemies--indeed, your enemies will perish; all evildoers will be scattered. |
But you have made me as strong as a wild ox. You have anointed me with the finest oil. | 10You have lifted up my horn like that of a wild ox; I have been anointed with the finest oil. |
My eyes have seen the downfall of my enemies; my ears have heard the defeat of my wicked opponents. | 11My eyes look at my enemies; when evildoers rise against me, my ears hear them. |
But the godly will flourish like palm trees and grow strong like the cedars of Lebanon. | 12The righteous thrive like a palm tree and grow like a cedar tree in Lebanon. |
For they are transplanted to the LORD’s own house. They flourish in the courts of our God. | 13Planted in the house of the LORD, they thrive in the courts of our God. |
Even in old age they will still produce fruit; they will remain vital and green. | 14They will still bear fruit in old age, healthy and green, |
They will declare, “The LORD is just! He is my rock! There is no evil in him!” | 15to declare: "The LORD is just; he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him." |
