New Living Translation | Berean Study Bible |
It is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praises to the Most High. | 1A Psalm. A song for the Sabbath day. It is good to praise the LORD, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High, |
It is good to proclaim your unfailing love in the morning, your faithfulness in the evening, | 2to proclaim Your loving devotion in the morning and Your faithfulness at night |
accompanied by a ten-stringed instrument, a harp, and the melody of a lyre. | 3with the ten-stringed harp and the melody of the lyre. |
You thrill me, LORD, with all you have done for me! I sing for joy because of what you have done. | 4For You, O LORD, have made me glad by Your deeds; I sing for joy at the works of Your hands. |
O LORD, what great works you do! And how deep are your thoughts. | 5How great are Your works, O LORD, how deep are Your thoughts! |
Only a simpleton would not know, and only a fool would not understand this: | 6A senseless man does not know, and a fool does not understand, |
Though the wicked sprout like weeds and evildoers flourish, they will be destroyed forever. | 7that though the wicked sprout like grass, and all evildoers flourish, they will be forever destroyed. |
But you, O LORD, will be exalted forever. | 8But You, O LORD, are exalted forever! |
Your enemies, LORD, will surely perish; all evildoers will be scattered. | 9For surely Your enemies, O LORD, surely Your enemies will perish; all evildoers will be scattered. |
But you have made me as strong as a wild ox. You have anointed me with the finest oil. | 10But You have exalted my horn like that of a wild ox; with fine oil I have been anointed. |
My eyes have seen the downfall of my enemies; my ears have heard the defeat of my wicked opponents. | 11My eyes see the downfall of my enemies; my ears hear the wailing of my wicked foes. |
But the godly will flourish like palm trees and grow strong like the cedars of Lebanon. | 12The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, and grow like a cedar in Lebanon. |
For they are transplanted to the LORD’s own house. They flourish in the courts of our God. | 13Planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God. |
Even in old age they will still produce fruit; they will remain vital and green. | 14In old age they will still bear fruit; healthy and green they will remain, |
They will declare, “The LORD is just! He is my rock! There is no evil in him!” | 15to proclaim, “The LORD is upright; He is my Rock, and in Him there is no unrighteousness.” |
