New Living Translation | Christian Standard Bible |
Praise the LORD! How good to sing praises to our God! How delightful and how fitting! | 1Hallelujah! How good it is to sing to our God, for praise is pleasant and lovely. |
The LORD is rebuilding Jerusalem and bringing the exiles back to Israel. | 2The LORD rebuilds Jerusalem; he gathers Israel's exiled people. |
He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds. | 3He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds. |
He counts the stars and calls them all by name. | 4He counts the number of the stars; he gives names to all of them. |
How great is our Lord! His power is absolute! His understanding is beyond comprehension! | 5Our Lord is great, vast in power; his understanding is infinite. |
The LORD supports the humble, but he brings the wicked down into the dust. | 6The LORD helps the oppressed but brings the wicked to the ground. |
Sing out your thanks to the LORD; sing praises to our God with a harp. | 7Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; play the lyre to our God, |
He covers the heavens with clouds, provides rain for the earth, and makes the grass grow in mountain pastures. | 8who covers the sky with clouds, prepares rain for the earth, and causes grass to grow on the hills. |
He gives food to the wild animals and feeds the young ravens when they cry. | 9He provides the animals with their food, and the young ravens, what they cry for. |
He takes no pleasure in the strength of a horse or in human might. | 10He is not impressed by the strength of a horse; he does not value the power of a warrior. |
No, the LORD’s delight is in those who fear him, those who put their hope in his unfailing love. | 11The LORD values those who fear him, those who put their hope in his faithful love. |
Glorify the LORD, O Jerusalem! Praise your God, O Zion! | 12Exalt the LORD, Jerusalem; praise your God, Zion! |
For he has strengthened the bars of your gates and blessed your children within your walls. | 13For he strengthens the bars of your city gates and blesses your children within you. |
He sends peace across your nation and satisfies your hunger with the finest wheat. | 14He endows your territory with prosperity; he satisfies you with the finest wheat. |
He sends his orders to the world— how swiftly his word flies! | 15He sends his command throughout the earth; his word runs swiftly. |
He sends the snow like white wool; he scatters frost upon the ground like ashes. | 16He spreads snow like wool; he scatters frost like ashes; |
He hurls the hail like stones. Who can stand against his freezing cold? | 17he throws his hailstones like crumbs. Who can withstand his cold? |
Then, at his command, it all melts. He sends his winds, and the ice thaws. | 18He sends his word and melts them; he unleashes his winds, and the water flows. |
He has revealed his words to Jacob, his decrees and regulations to Israel. | 19He declares his word to Jacob, his statutes and judgments to Israel. |
He has not done this for any other nation; they do not know his regulations. Praise the LORD! | 20He has not done this for every nation; they do not know his judgments. Hallelujah! |
