New Living Translation | Berean Study Bible |
O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water. | 1A Psalm of David, when he was in the Wilderness of Judah. O God, You are my God. Earnestly I seek You; my soul thirsts for You. My body yearns for You in a dry and weary land without water. |
I have seen you in your sanctuary and gazed upon your power and glory. | 2So I have seen You in the sanctuary and beheld Your power and glory. |
Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise you! | 3Because Your loving devotion is better than life, my lips will glorify You. |
I will praise you as long as I live, lifting up my hands to you in prayer. | 4So I will bless You as long as I live; in Your name I will lift my hands. |
You satisfy me more than the richest feast. I will praise you with songs of joy. | 5My soul is satisfied as with the richest of foods; with joyful lips my mouth will praise You. |
I lie awake thinking of you, meditating on you through the night. | 6When I remember You on my bed, I think of You through the watches of the night. |
Because you are my helper, I sing for joy in the shadow of your wings. | 7For You are my help; I will sing for joy in the shadow of Your wings. |
I cling to you; your strong right hand holds me securely. | 8My soul clings to You; Your right hand upholds me. |
But those plotting to destroy me will come to ruin. They will go down into the depths of the earth. | 9But those who seek my life to destroy it will go into the depths of the earth. |
They will die by the sword and become the food of jackals. | 10They will fall to the power of the sword; they will become a portion for foxes. |
But the king will rejoice in God. All who swear to tell the truth will praise him, while liars will be silenced. | 11But the king will rejoice in God; all who swear by Him will exult, for the mouths of liars will be shut. |
