New King James Version | NET Bible |
To the Chief Musician. Set to “The Lilies.” A Testimony of Asaph. A Psalm. Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, You who lead Joseph like a flock; You who dwell between the cherubim, shine forth! | 1For the music director; according to the shushan-eduth style; a psalm of Asaph. O shepherd of Israel, pay attention, you who lead Joseph like a flock of sheep! You who sit enthroned above the winged angels, reveal your splendor! |
Before Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh, Stir up Your strength, And come and save us! | 2In the sight of Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh reveal your power! Come and deliver us! |
Restore us, O God; Cause Your face to shine, And we shall be saved! | 3O God, restore us! Smile on us! Then we will be delivered! |
O LORD God of hosts, How long will You be angry Against the prayer of Your people? | 4O LORD God, invincible warrior! How long will you remain angry at your people while they pray to you? |
You have fed them with the bread of tears, And given them tears to drink in great measure. | 5You have given them tears as food; you have made them drink tears by the measure. |
You have made us a strife to our neighbors, And our enemies laugh among themselves. | 6You have made our neighbors dislike us, and our enemies insult us. |
Restore us, O God of hosts; Cause Your face to shine, And we shall be saved! | 7O God, invincible warrior, restore us! Smile on us! Then we will be delivered! |
You have brought a vine out of Egypt; You have cast out the nations, and planted it. | 8You uprooted a vine from Egypt; you drove out nations and transplanted it. |
You prepared room for it, And caused it to take deep root, And it filled the land. | 9You cleared the ground for it; it took root, and filled the land. |
The hills were covered with its shadow, And the mighty cedars with its boughs. | 10The mountains were covered by its shadow, the highest cedars by its branches. |
She sent out her boughs to the Sea, And her branches to the River. | 11Its branches reached the Mediterranean Sea, and its shoots the Euphrates River. |
Why have You broken down her hedges, So that all who pass by the way pluck her fruit? | 12Why did you break down its walls, so that all who pass by pluck its fruit? |
The boar out of the woods uproots it, And the wild beast of the field devours it. | 13The wild boars of the forest ruin it; the insects of the field feed on it. |
Return, we beseech You, O God of hosts; Look down from heaven and see, And visit this vine | 14O God, invincible warrior, come back! Look down from heaven and take notice! Take care of this vine, |
And the vineyard which Your right hand has planted, And the branch that You made strong for Yourself. | 15the root your right hand planted, the shoot you made to grow! |
It is burned with fire, it is cut down; They perish at the rebuke of Your countenance. | 16It is burned and cut down. They die because you are displeased with them. |
Let Your hand be upon the man of Your right hand, Upon the son of man whom You made strong for Yourself. | 17May you give support to the one you have chosen, to the one whom you raised up for yourself! |
Then we will not turn back from You; Revive us, and we will call upon Your name. | 18Then we will not turn away from you. Revive us and we will pray to you! |
Restore us, O LORD God of hosts; Cause Your face to shine, And we shall be saved! | 19O LORD God, invincible warrior, restore us! Smile on us! Then we will be delivered! |
