For the director of music. To the tune of "The Lilies of the Covenant." Of Asaph. A psalm. Hear us, Shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph like a flock. You who sit enthroned between the cherubim, shine forth1For the choir director; set to El Shoshannim; Eduth. A Psalm of Asaph. Oh, give ear, Shepherd of Israel, You who lead Joseph like a flock; You who are enthroned above the cherubim, shine forth!
before Ephraim, Benjamin and Manasseh. Awaken your might; come and save us.2Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, stir up Your power And come to save us!
Restore us, O God; make your face shine on us, that we may be saved.3O God, restore us And cause Your face to shine upon us, and we will be saved.
How long, LORD God Almighty, will your anger smolder against the prayers of your people?4O LORD God of hosts, How long will You be angry with the prayer of Your people?
You have fed them with the bread of tears; you have made them drink tears by the bowlful.5You have fed them with the bread of tears, And You have made them to drink tears in large measure.
You have made us an object of derision to our neighbors, and our enemies mock us.6You make us an object of contention to our neighbors, And our enemies laugh among themselves.
Restore us, God Almighty; make your face shine on us, that we may be saved.7O God of hosts, restore us And cause Your face to shine upon us, and we will be saved.
You transplanted a vine from Egypt; you drove out the nations and planted it.8You removed a vine from Egypt; You drove out the nations and planted it.
You cleared the ground for it, and it took root and filled the land.9You cleared the ground before it, And it took deep root and filled the land.
The mountains were covered with its shade, the mighty cedars with its branches.10The mountains were covered with its shadow, And the cedars of God with its boughs.
Its branches reached as far as the Sea, its shoots as far as the River.11It was sending out its branches to the sea And its shoots to the River.
Why have you broken down its walls so that all who pass by pick its grapes?12Why have You broken down its hedges, So that all who pass that way pick its fruit?
Boars from the forest ravage it, and insects from the fields feed on it.13A boar from the forest eats it away And whatever moves in the field feeds on it.
Return to us, God Almighty! Look down from heaven and see! Watch over this vine,14O God of hosts, turn again now, we beseech You; Look down from heaven and see, and take care of this vine,
the root your right hand has planted, the son you have raised up for yourself.15Even the shoot which Your right hand has planted, And on the son whom You have strengthened for Yourself.
Your vine is cut down, it is burned with fire; at your rebuke your people perish.16It is burned with fire, it is cut down; They perish at the rebuke of Your countenance.
Let your hand rest on the man at your right hand, the son of man you have raised up for yourself.17Let Your hand be upon the man of Your right hand, Upon the son of man whom You made strong for Yourself.
Then we will not turn away from you; revive us, and we will call on your name.18Then we shall not turn back from You; Revive us, and we will call upon Your name.
Restore us, LORD God Almighty; make your face shine on us, that we may be saved.19O LORD God of hosts, restore us; Cause Your face to shine upon us, and we will be saved.
