NET Parallel NASB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
NET BibleNew American Standard Bible 1995
For the music director, a psalm of David. O LORD, you examine me and know. 1For the choir director. A Psalm of David. O LORD, You have searched me and known me.
You know when I sit down and when I get up; even from far away you understand my motives. 2You know when I sit down and when I rise up; You understand my thought from afar.
You carefully observe me when I travel or when I lie down to rest; you are aware of everything I do. 3You scrutinize my path and my lying down, And are intimately acquainted with all my ways.
Certainly my tongue does not frame a word without you, O LORD, being thoroughly aware of it. 4Even before there is a word on my tongue, Behold, O LORD, You know it all.
You squeeze me in from behind and in front; you place your hand on me. 5You have enclosed me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me.
Your knowledge is beyond my comprehension; it is so far beyond me, I am unable to fathom it. 6Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is too high, I cannot attain to it.
Where can I go to escape your spirit? Where can I flee to escape your presence? 7Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?
If I were to ascend to heaven, you would be there. If I were to sprawl out in Sheol, there you would be. 8If I ascend to heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there.
If I were to fly away on the wings of the dawn, and settle down on the other side of the sea, 9If I take the wings of the dawn, If I dwell in the remotest part of the sea,
even there your hand would guide me, your right hand would grab hold of me. 10Even there Your hand will lead me, And Your right hand will lay hold of me.
If I were to say, "Certainly the darkness will cover me, and the light will turn to night all around me," 11If I say, "Surely the darkness will overwhelm me, And the light around me will be night,"
even the darkness is not too dark for you to see, and the night is as bright as day; darkness and light are the same to you. 12Even the darkness is not dark to You, And the night is as bright as the day. Darkness and light are alike to You.
Certainly you made my mind and heart; you wove me together in my mother's womb. 13For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother's womb.
I will give you thanks because your deeds are awesome and amazing. You knew me thoroughly; 14I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well.
my bones were not hidden from you, when I was made in secret and sewed together in the depths of the earth. 15My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth;
Your eyes saw me when I was inside the womb. All the days ordained for me were recorded in your scroll before one of them came into existence. 16Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written The days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them.
How difficult it is for me to fathom your thoughts about me, O God! How vast is their sum total! 17How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them!
If I tried to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. Even if I finished counting them, I would still have to contend with you. 18If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand. When I awake, I am still with You.
If only you would kill the wicked, O God! Get away from me, you violent men! 19O that You would slay the wicked, O God; Depart from me, therefore, men of bloodshed.
They rebel against you and act deceitfully; your enemies lie. 20For they speak against You wickedly, And Your enemies take Your name in vain.
O LORD, do I not hate those who hate you, and despise those who oppose you? 21Do I not hate those who hate You, O LORD? And do I not loathe those who rise up against You?
I absolutely hate them, they have become my enemies! 22I hate them with the utmost hatred; They have become my enemies.
Examine me, and probe my thoughts! Test me, and know my concerns! 23Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me and know my anxious thoughts;
See if there is any idolatrous tendency in me, and lead me in the reliable ancient path! 24And see if there be any hurtful way in me, And lead me in the everlasting way.
