A song of ascents. When the LORD restored the well-being of Zion, we thought we were dreaming. | 1A Song of Ascents. When the LORD brought back the captive ones of Zion, We were like those who dream. |
At that time we laughed loudly and shouted for joy. At that time the nations said, "The LORD has accomplished great things for these people." | 2Then our mouth was filled with laughter And our tongue with joyful shouting; Then they said among the nations, "The LORD has done great things for them." |
The LORD did indeed accomplish great things for us. We were happy. | 3The LORD has done great things for us; We are glad. |
O LORD, restore our well-being, just as the streams in the arid south are replenished. | 4Restore our captivity, O LORD, As the streams in the South. |
Those who shed tears as they plant will shout for joy when they reap the harvest. | 5Those who sow in tears shall reap with joyful shouting. |
The one who weeps as he walks along, carrying his bag of seed, will certainly come in with a shout of joy, carrying his sheaves of grain. | 6He who goes to and fro weeping, carrying his bag of seed, Shall indeed come again with a shout of joy, bringing his sheaves with him. |
