NET Bible | English Standard Version |
A prayer of David. Protect me, O God, for I have taken shelter in you. | 1Preserve me, O God, for in you I take refuge. |
I say to the LORD, "You are the Lord, my only source of well-being." | 2I say to the LORD, “You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you.” |
As for God's chosen people who are in the land, and the leading officials I admired so much-- | 3As for the saints in the land, they are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight. |
their troubles multiply, they desire other gods. I will not pour out drink offerings of blood to their gods, nor will I make vows in the name of their gods. | 4The sorrows of those who run after another god shall multiply; their drink offerings of blood I will not pour out or take their names on my lips. |
LORD, you give me stability and prosperity; you make my future secure. | 5The LORD is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot. |
It is as if I have been given fertile fields or received a beautiful tract of land. | 6The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance. |
I will praise the LORD who guides me; yes, during the night I reflect and learn. | 7I bless the LORD who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me. |
I constantly trust in the LORD; because he is at my right hand, I will not be upended. | 8I have set the LORD always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken. |
So my heart rejoices and I am happy; My life is safe. | 9Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure. |
You will not abandon me to Sheol; you will not allow your faithful follower to see the Pit. | 10For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol, or let your holy one see corruption. |
You lead me in the path of life; I experience absolute joy in your presence; you always give me sheer delight. | 11You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. |
