A Psalm of David. A Maskil. How blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, Whose sin is covered! | 1Of David. A maskil. Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. |
How blessed is the man to whom the LORD does not impute iniquity, And in whose spirit there is no deceit! | 2Blessed is the one whose sin the LORD does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit. |
When I kept silent about my sin, my body wasted away Through my groaning all day long. | 3When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. |
For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; My vitality was drained away as with the fever heat of summer. Selah. | 4For day and night your hand was heavy on me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer. |
I acknowledged my sin to You, And my iniquity I did not hide; I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the LORD"; And You forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah. | 5Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the LORD." And you forgave the guilt of my sin. |
Therefore, let everyone who is godly pray to You in a time when You may be found; Surely in a flood of great waters they will not reach him. | 6Therefore let all the faithful pray to you while you may be found; surely the rising of the mighty waters will not reach them. |
You are my hiding place; You preserve me from trouble; You surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah. | 7You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. |
I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you. | 8I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. |
Do not be as the horse or as the mule which have no understanding, Whose trappings include bit and bridle to hold them in check, Otherwise they will not come near to you. | 9Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding but must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you. |
Many are the sorrows of the wicked, But he who trusts in the LORD, lovingkindness shall surround him. | 10Many are the woes of the wicked, but the LORD's unfailing love surrounds the one who trusts in him. |
Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, you righteous ones; And shout for joy, all you who are upright in heart. | 11Rejoice in the LORD and be glad, you righteous; sing, all you who are upright in heart! |
