Psalm 17
NASB Parallel NET [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New American Standard Bible 1995NET Bible
A Prayer of David. Hear a just cause, O LORD, give heed to my cry; Give ear to my prayer, which is not from deceitful lips.1A prayer of David. LORD, consider my just cause! Pay attention to my cry for help! Listen to the prayer I sincerely offer!
Let my judgment come forth from Your presence; Let Your eyes look with equity.2Make a just decision on my behalf! Decide what is right!
You have tried my heart; You have visited me by night; You have tested me and You find nothing; I have purposed that my mouth will not transgress.3You have scrutinized my inner motives; you have examined me during the night. You have carefully evaluated me, but you find no sin. I am determined I will say nothing sinful.
As for the deeds of men, by the word of Your lips I have kept from the paths of the violent.4As for the actions of people--just as you have commanded, I have not followed in the footsteps of violent men.
My steps have held fast to Your paths. My feet have not slipped.5I carefully obey your commands; I do not deviate from them.
I have called upon You, for You will answer me, O God; Incline Your ear to me, hear my speech.6I call to you for you will answer me, O God. Listen to me! Hear what I say!
Wondrously show Your lovingkindness, O Savior of those who take refuge at Your right hand From those who rise up against them.7Accomplish awesome, faithful deeds, you who powerfully deliver those who look to you for protection from their enemies.
Keep me as the apple of the eye; Hide me in the shadow of Your wings8Protect me as you would protect the pupil of your eye! Hide me in the shadow of your wings!
From the wicked who despoil me, My deadly enemies who surround me.9Protect me from the wicked men who attack me, my enemies who crowd around me for the kill.
They have closed their unfeeling heart, With their mouth they speak proudly.10They are calloused; they speak arrogantly.
They have now surrounded us in our steps; They set their eyes to cast us down to the ground.11They attack me, now they surround me; they intend to throw me to the ground.
He is like a lion that is eager to tear, And as a young lion lurking in hiding places.12He is like a lion that wants to tear its prey to bits, like a young lion crouching in hidden places.
Arise, O LORD, confront him, bring him low; Deliver my soul from the wicked with Your sword,13Rise up, LORD! Confront him! Knock him down! Use your sword to rescue me from the wicked man!
From men with Your hand, O LORD, From men of the world, whose portion is in this life, And whose belly You fill with Your treasure; They are satisfied with children, And leave their abundance to their babes.14LORD, use your power to deliver me from these murderers, from the murderers of this world! They enjoy prosperity; you overwhelm them with the riches they desire. They have many children, and leave their wealth to their offspring.
As for me, I shall behold Your face in righteousness; I will be satisfied with Your likeness when I awake.15As for me, because I am innocent I will see your face; when I awake you will reveal yourself to me.
