King James Bible | New Living Translation |
To the chief Musician on Neginoth, Maschil, A Psalm of David, when the Ziphims came and said to Saul, Doth not David hide himself with us? Save me, O God, by thy name, and judge me by thy strength. | 1Come with great power, O God, and rescue me! Defend me with your might. |
Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth. | 2Listen to my prayer, O God. Pay attention to my plea. |
For strangers are risen up against me, and oppressors seek after my soul: they have not set God before them. Selah. | 3For strangers are attacking me; violent people are trying to kill me. They care nothing for God. Interlude |
Behold, God is mine helper: the Lord is with them that uphold my soul. | 4But God is my helper. The Lord keeps me alive! |
He shall reward evil unto mine enemies: cut them off in thy truth. | 5May the evil plans of my enemies be turned against them. Do as you promised and put an end to them. |
I will freely sacrifice unto thee: I will praise thy name, O LORD; for it is good. | 6I will sacrifice a voluntary offering to you; I will praise your name, O LORD, for it is good. |
For he hath delivered me out of all trouble: and mine eye hath seen his desire upon mine enemies. | 7For you have rescued me from my troubles and helped me to triumph over my enemies. |
