To the chief Musician on Neginoth, Maschil, A Psalm of David, when the Ziphims came and said to Saul, Doth not David hide himself with us? Save me, O God, by thy name, and judge me by thy strength. | 1For the choirmaster. With stringed instruments. A Maskil of David. When the Ziphites went to Saul and said, “Is David not hiding among us?” Save me, O God, by Your name, and vindicate me by Your might! |
Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth. | 2Hear my prayer, O God; listen to the words of my mouth. |
For strangers are risen up against me, and oppressors seek after my soul: they have not set God before them. Selah. | 3For strangers rise up against me, and ruthless men seek my life—men with no regard for God. Selah |
Behold, God is mine helper: the Lord is with them that uphold my soul. | 4Surely God is my helper; the Lord is the sustainer of my soul. |
He shall reward evil unto mine enemies: cut them off in thy truth. | 5He will reward my enemies with evil. In Your faithfulness, destroy them. |
I will freely sacrifice unto thee: I will praise thy name, O LORD; for it is good. | 6Freely I will sacrifice to You; I will praise Your name, O LORD, for it is good. |
For he hath delivered me out of all trouble: and mine eye hath seen his desire upon mine enemies. | 7For He has delivered me from every trouble, and my eyes have stared down my foes. |
