Titus 2
KJV Parallel NIV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
King James BibleNew International Version
But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:1You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine.
That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.2Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance.
The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;3Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good.
That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,4Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children,
To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.5to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.
Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.6Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled.
In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,7In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness
Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.8and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.
Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;9Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them,
Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.10and not to steal from them, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive.
For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,11For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people.
Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;12It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age,
Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;13while we wait for the blessed hope--the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,
Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.14who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.15These, then, are the things you should teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone despise you.
