3And David smote Hadarezer king of Zobah unto Hamath, as he went to stablish his dominion by the river Euphrates. | 3David also defeated Hadadezer king of Zobah as far as Hamath, as he went to establish his rule to the Euphrates River. |
4And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: David also houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them an hundred chariots. | 4David took from him 1,000 chariots and 7,000 horsemen and 20,000 foot soldiers, and David hamstrung all the chariot horses, but reserved enough of them for 100 chariots. |

Thus the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went. | 6Then David put garrisons among the Arameans of Damascus; and the Arameans became servants to David, bringing tribute. And the LORD helped David wherever he went. |

9Now when Tou king of Hamath heard how David had smitten all the host of Hadarezer king of Zobah; | 9Now when Tou king of Hamath heard that David had defeated all the army of Hadadezer king of Zobah, |

And Hadoram brought all kinds of articles of gold and silver and bronze. |
11Them also king David dedicated unto the LORD, with the silver and the gold that he brought from all these nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek. | 11King David also dedicated these to the LORD with the silver and the gold which he had carried away from all the nations: from Edom, Moab, the sons of Ammon, the Philistines, and from Amalek. |
