| 1Michtam of David. Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust. | 1Keep me safe, God, for I take refuge in you. |
| 2O my soul, thou hast said unto the LORD, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee; | 2I told the LORD, "You are my master, I have nothing good apart from you." |
| 3But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight. | 3As for the saints that are in the land, they are noble, and all my delight is in them. |
| 4Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips. | 4Those who hurry after another god will have many sorrows; I will not present their drink offerings of blood, nor will my lips speak their names. |
| 5The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot. | 5The LORD is my inheritance and my cup; you support my lot. |
| 6The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage. | 6The boundary lines have fallen in pleasant places for me; truly, I have a beautiful heritage. |
| 7I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons. | 7I will bless the LORD who has counseled me; indeed, my conscience instructs me during the night. |
| 8I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. | 8I have set the LORD before me continuously; because he stands at my right hand, I will stand firm. |
| 9Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope. | 9Therefore, my heart is glad, my whole being rejoices, and my body will dwell securely. |
| 10For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. | 10For you will not leave my soul in Sheol, you will not allow your holy one to experience corruption. |
| 11Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. | 11You cause me to know the path of life; in your presence is joyful abundance, at your right hand there are pleasures forever. |
