1Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
1How happy is the man who does not follow the advice of the wicked or take the path of sinners or join a group of mockers!
2But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
2Instead, his delight is in the LORD's instruction, and he meditates on it day and night.
3And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
3He is like a tree planted beside streams of water that bears its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.
4The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
4The wicked are not like this; instead, they are like chaff that the wind blows away.
5Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
5Therefore the wicked will not survive the judgment, and sinners will not be in the community of the righteous.
6For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
6For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to ruin.
