To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. | 1For the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands. |
Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. | 2Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. |
There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. | 3Without speech or language, without a sound to be heard, |
Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, | 4their voice has gone out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens He has pitched a tent for the sun. |
Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race. | 5Like a bridegroom emerging from his chamber, like a champion rejoicing to run his course, |
His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof. | 6it rises at one end of the heavens and runs its circuit to the other; nothing is deprived of its warmth. |
The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. | 7The Law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is trustworthy, making wise the simple. |
The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. | 8The precepts of the LORD are right, bringing joy to the heart; the commandments of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes. |
The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. | 9The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever; the judgments of the LORD are true, being altogether righteous. |
More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. | 10They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb. |
Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward. | 11By them indeed Your servant is warned; in keeping them is great reward. |
Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults. | 12Who can discern his own errors? Cleanse me from my hidden faults. |
Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression. | 13Keep Your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then I will be blameless and cleansed of great transgression. |
Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer. | 14May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer. |
