International Standard Version | New Living Translation |
I rejoiced when they kept on asking me, "Let us go to the LORD's Temple." | 1I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the LORD.” |
Our feet are standing inside your gates, Jerusalem. | 2And now here we are, standing inside your gates, O Jerusalem. |
Jerusalem stands built up, a city knitted together. | 3Jerusalem is a well-built city; its seamless walls cannot be breached. |
To it the tribes ascend— the tribes of the LORD— as decreed to Israel, to give thanks to the name of the LORD. | 4All the tribes of Israel—the LORD’s people— make their pilgrimage here. They come to give thanks to the name of the LORD, as the law requires of Israel. |
For thrones are established there for judgment, thrones of the house of David. | 5Here stand the thrones where judgment is given, the thrones of the dynasty of David. |
Pray for peace for Jerusalem: "May those who love you be at peace! | 6Pray for peace in Jerusalem. May all who love this city prosper. |
May peace be within your ramparts, and prosperity within your fortresses." | 7O Jerusalem, may there be peace within your walls and prosperity in your palaces. |
For the sake of my relatives and friends I will now say, "May there be peace within you." | 8For the sake of my family and friends, I will say, “May you have peace.” |
For the sake of the Temple of the LORD our God, I will seek your welfare. | 9For the sake of the house of the LORD our God, I will seek what is best for you, O Jerusalem. |
