I rejoiced when they kept on asking me, "Let us go to the LORD's Temple." | 1I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the LORD!” |
Our feet are standing inside your gates, Jerusalem. | 2Our feet have been standing within your gates, O Jerusalem! |
Jerusalem stands built up, a city knitted together. | 3Jerusalem—built as a city that is bound firmly together, |
To it the tribes ascend— the tribes of the LORD— as decreed to Israel, to give thanks to the name of the LORD. | 4to which the tribes go up, the tribes of the LORD, as was decreed for Israel, to give thanks to the name of the LORD. |
For thrones are established there for judgment, thrones of the house of David. | 5There thrones for judgment were set, the thrones of the house of David. |
Pray for peace for Jerusalem: "May those who love you be at peace! | 6Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! “May they be secure who love you! |
May peace be within your ramparts, and prosperity within your fortresses." | 7Peace be within your walls and security within your towers!” |
For the sake of my relatives and friends I will now say, "May there be peace within you." | 8For my brothers and companions’ sake I will say, “Peace be within you!” |
For the sake of the Temple of the LORD our God, I will seek your welfare. | 9For the sake of the house of the LORD our God, I will seek your good. |
