Bless the LORD, my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name. | 1Of David. Praise the LORD, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. |
Bless the LORD, my soul, and never forget any of his benefits: | 2Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits-- |
He continues to forgive all your sins, he continues to heal all your diseases, | 3who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, |
he continues to redeem your life from the Pit, and he continuously surrounds you with gracious love and compassion. | 4who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, |
He keeps satisfying you with good things, and he keeps renewing your youth like the eagle's. | 5who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. |
The LORD continuously does what is right, executing justice for all who are being oppressed. | 6The LORD works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed. |
He revealed his plans to Moses and his deeds to the people of Israel. | 7He made known his ways to Moses, his deeds to the people of Israel: |
The LORD is compassionate and gracious, patient, and abundantly rich in gracious love. | 8The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. |
He does not maintain a dispute continuously or remain angry for all time. | 9He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; |
He neither deals with us according to our sins, nor repays us equivalent to our iniquity. | 10he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. |
As high as heaven rises above earth, so his gracious love strengthens those who fear him. | 11For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; |
As distant as the east is from the west, that is how far he has removed our sins from us. | 12as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. |
As a father has compassion for his children, so the LORD has compassion for those who fear him. | 13As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him; |
For he knows how we were formed, aware that we were made from dust. | 14for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust. |
A person's life is like grass— it blossoms like wild flowers, | 15The life of mortals is like grass, they flourish like a flower of the field; |
but when the wind blows through it, it withers away and no one remembers where it was. | 16the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more. |
Yet the LORD's gracious love remains throughout eternity for those who fear him and his righteous acts extend to their children's children, | 17But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD's love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children's children-- |
to those who keep his covenant and to those who remember to observe his precepts. | 18with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts. |
The LORD has established his throne in heaven and his kingdom rules over all. | 19The LORD has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all. |
Bless the LORD, you angels who belong to him, you mighty warriors who carry out his commands, who are obedient to the sound of his words. | 20Praise the LORD, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word. |
Bless the LORD, all his heavenly armies, his ministers who do his will. | 21Praise the LORD, all his heavenly hosts, you his servants who do his will. |
Bless the LORD, all his creation, in all the places of his dominion. Bless the LORD, my soul. | 22Praise the LORD, all his works everywhere in his dominion. Praise the LORD, my soul. |
