International Standard Version | New Living Translation |
Bless the LORD, my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name. | 1Let all that I am praise the LORD; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name. |
Bless the LORD, my soul, and never forget any of his benefits: | 2Let all that I am praise the LORD; may I never forget the good things he does for me. |
He continues to forgive all your sins, he continues to heal all your diseases, | 3He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. |
he continues to redeem your life from the Pit, and he continuously surrounds you with gracious love and compassion. | 4He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies. |
He keeps satisfying you with good things, and he keeps renewing your youth like the eagle's. | 5He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle’s! |
The LORD continuously does what is right, executing justice for all who are being oppressed. | 6The LORD gives righteousness and justice to all who are treated unfairly. |
He revealed his plans to Moses and his deeds to the people of Israel. | 7He revealed his character to Moses and his deeds to the people of Israel. |
The LORD is compassionate and gracious, patient, and abundantly rich in gracious love. | 8The LORD is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. |
He does not maintain a dispute continuously or remain angry for all time. | 9He will not constantly accuse us, nor remain angry forever. |
He neither deals with us according to our sins, nor repays us equivalent to our iniquity. | 10He does not punish us for all our sins; he does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve. |
As high as heaven rises above earth, so his gracious love strengthens those who fear him. | 11For his unfailing love toward those who fear him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth. |
As distant as the east is from the west, that is how far he has removed our sins from us. | 12He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west. |
As a father has compassion for his children, so the LORD has compassion for those who fear him. | 13The LORD is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him. |
For he knows how we were formed, aware that we were made from dust. | 14For he knows how weak we are; he remembers we are only dust. |
A person's life is like grass— it blossoms like wild flowers, | 15Our days on earth are like grass; like wildflowers, we bloom and die. |
but when the wind blows through it, it withers away and no one remembers where it was. | 16The wind blows, and we are gone— as though we had never been here. |
Yet the LORD's gracious love remains throughout eternity for those who fear him and his righteous acts extend to their children's children, | 17But the love of the LORD remains forever with those who fear him. His salvation extends to the children’s children |
to those who keep his covenant and to those who remember to observe his precepts. | 18of those who are faithful to his covenant, of those who obey his commandments! |
The LORD has established his throne in heaven and his kingdom rules over all. | 19The LORD has made the heavens his throne; from there he rules over everything. |
Bless the LORD, you angels who belong to him, you mighty warriors who carry out his commands, who are obedient to the sound of his words. | 20Praise the LORD, you angels, you mighty ones who carry out his plans, listening for each of his commands. |
Bless the LORD, all his heavenly armies, his ministers who do his will. | 21Yes, praise the LORD, you armies of angels who serve him and do his will! |
Bless the LORD, all his creation, in all the places of his dominion. Bless the LORD, my soul. | 22Praise the LORD, everything he has created, everything in all his kingdom. Let all that I am praise the LORD. |
