International Standard VersionNET Bible
Sing joyfully to God, our strength. Raise a shout to the God of Jacob.1For the music director; according to the gittith style; by Asaph. Shout for joy to God, our source of strength! Shout out to the God of Jacob!
Sing a song and play the tambourine, the pleasant-sounding lyre along with the harp.2Sing a song and play the tambourine, the pleasant sounding harp, and the ten-stringed instrument!
Blow the ram's horn when there is a New Moon, when there is a full moon, on our festival day,3Sound the ram's horn on the day of the new moon, and on the day of the full moon when our festival begins.
because it is a statute in Israel, an ordinance by the God of Jacob,4For observing the festival is a requirement for Israel; it is an ordinance given by the God of Jacob.
a decree that he prescribed for Joseph when he went throughout the land of Egypt, speaking a language I did not recognize. 5He decreed it as a regulation in Joseph, when he attacked the land of Egypt. I heard a voice I did not recognize.
I removed the burden from your shoulder; your hands were freed of the burdensome basket. 6It said: "I removed the burden from his shoulder; his hands were released from holding the basket.
In a time of need you called out and I delivered you; I answered you from the dark thundercloud; I tested you at the waters of Meribah. Interlude7In your distress you called out and I rescued you. I answered you from a dark thundercloud. I tested you at the waters of Meribah. (Selah)
Listen, My people and I will warn you. Israel, if only you would obey me!8I said, 'Listen, my people! I will warn you! O Israel, if only you would obey me!
You must neither have a foreign god over you or worship a strange god.9There must be no other god among you. You must not worship a foreign god.
I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, open your mouth that I may fill it.10I am the LORD, your God, the one who brought you out of the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide and I will fill it!'
Yet my people didn't obey my voice; Israel didn't submit to me.11But my people did not obey me; Israel did not submit to me.
So I allowed them to continue in their stubbornness, living by their own advice.12I gave them over to their stubborn desires; they did what seemed right to them.
If only my people would obey me, if only Israel would walk in my ways!13If only my people would obey me! If only Israel would keep my commands!
Then I would quickly subdue their enemies. I would turn against their foes.14Then I would quickly subdue their enemies, and attack their adversaries."
Those who hate the LORD will cringe before him; their punishment will be permanent.15(May those who hate the LORD cower in fear before him! May they be permanently humiliated!)
But I will feed Israel with the finest wheat, satisfying you with honey from the rock.16"I would feed Israel the best wheat, and would satisfy your appetite with honey from the rocky cliffs."
