How lovely are your dwelling places, LORD of the Heavenly Armies. | 1For the choirmaster. According to Gittith. A Psalm of the sons of Korah. How lovely is Your dwelling place, O LORD of Hosts! |
I desire and long for the Temple courts of the LORD. My heart and body sing for joy to the living God. | 2My soul longs, even faints, for the courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God. |
Even the sparrow found a house for herself and the swallow a nest to lay her young at your altar, LORD of the Heavenly Armies, my king and God. | 3Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she places her young near Your altars, O LORD of Hosts, my King and my God. |
How happy are those who live in your Temple, for they can praise you continuously. Interlude | 4How blessed are those who dwell in Your house! They are ever praising You. Selah |
How happy are those whose strength is in you, whose heart is on your path. | 5Blessed are those whose strength is in You, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage. |
They will pass through the Baca Valley where he will prepare a spring for them; even the early rain will cover it with blessings. | 6As they pass through the Valley of Baca, they make it a place of springs; even the autumn rain covers it with pools. |
They will walk from strength to strength; each will appear before God in Zion. | 7They go from strength to strength, until each appears before God in Zion. |
LORD God of the Heavenly Armies, hear my prayer! Listen, God of Jacob! Interlude | 8O LORD God of Hosts, hear my prayer; give ear, O God of Jacob. Selah |
God, look at our shield, and show favor to your anointed, | 9Take notice of our shield, O God, and look with favor on the face of Your anointed. |
for a day in your Temple courts is better than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather stand at the entrance of God's house than live in the tent of wickedness. | 10For better is one day in Your courts than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked. |
For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD grants grace and favor; the LORD will not withhold any good thing from those who walk blamelessly. | 11For the LORD God is a sun and a shield; the LORD gives grace and glory; He withholds no good thing from those who walk with integrity. |
LORD of Heavenly Armies, how happy are those who trust in you. | 12O LORD of Hosts, how blessed is the man who trusts in You! |
