The LORD told Moses and Aaron, | 1And the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, |
"Tell the Israelis that when a man has a discharge from his body, his discharge is unclean, | 2“Say to the Israelites, ‘When any man has a bodily discharge, the discharge is unclean. |
and this is the cause of his uncleanness—his discharge. Whether his body is releasing the discharge or his body has stopped the discharge, he's unclean. | 3This uncleanness is from his discharge, whether his body allows the discharge to flow or blocks it. So his discharge will bring about uncleanness. |
Every bed on which he lies down with the discharge is to be considered unclean, and every object on which he sits becomes unclean. | 4Any bed on which the man with the discharge lies will be unclean, and any furniture on which he sits will be unclean. |
Any person who touches his bed is to wash his garments and bathe with water, and he will remain unclean until evening. | 5Anyone who touches his bed must wash his clothes and bathe with water, and he will be unclean until evening. |
Whoever sits on any object on which the one with the discharge has sat is to wash his clothes and bathe with water, and he will remain unclean until evening. | 6Whoever sits on furniture on which the man with the discharge was sitting must wash his clothes and bathe with water, and he will be unclean until evening. |
"Whoever touches the body of someone with a discharge is to wash his clothes and bathe with water, and he will remain unclean until evening. | 7Whoever touches the body of the man with a discharge must wash his clothes and bathe with water, and he will be unclean until evening. |
Whoever has a discharge and spits on someone who is clean, then he is to wash his clothes and bathe with water, and he will remain unclean until evening. | 8If the man with the discharge spits on one who is clean, that person must wash his clothes and bathe with water, and he will be unclean until evening. |
"Any saddle that anyone with a discharge rides on will become unclean. | 9Any saddle on which the man with the discharge rides will be unclean. |
Whoever touches anything that was under him will be unclean until evening. Whoever carries these things is to wash his clothes and bathe with water, and he will remain unclean until evening. | 10Whoever touches anything that was under him will be unclean until evening, and whoever carries such things must wash his clothes and bathe with water, and he will be unclean until evening. |
"Anyone whom the one with the discharge touches without rinsing his hands with water is to wash his clothes and bathe with water, and he will remain unclean until evening. | 11If the man with the discharge touches anyone without first rinsing his hands with water, the one who was touched must wash his clothes and bathe with water, and he will be unclean until evening. |
The earthen vessel that the person with the discharge touches is to be broken in pieces, and every wooden vessel is to be rinsed with water." | 12Any clay pot that the man with the discharge touches must be broken, and any wooden utensil must be rinsed with water. |
"When the one with the discharge is cleansed from his discharge, then he is to set aside for himself seven days for his cleansing. He is to wash his clothes and bathe with flowing water. Then he will be clean. | 13When the man has been cleansed from his discharge, he must count off seven days for his cleansing, wash his clothes, and bathe himself in fresh water, and he shall be clean. |
On the eighth day, he is to take for himself two turtledoves or two young doves, bring them to the LORD at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, and give them to the priest. | 14On the eighth day he is to take two turtledoves or two young pigeons, come before the LORD at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, and give them to the priest. |
Then the priest is to offer them—one for a sin offering and the other for a whole burnt offering. That's how the priest will make atonement for him in the LORD's presence regarding his discharge." | 15The priest is to sacrifice them, one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering. In this way the priest will make atonement for the man before the LORD because of his discharge. |
"If a man has a seminal emission, he is to bathe his entire body with water and remain unclean until evening. | 16When a man has an emission of semen, he must bathe his whole body with water, and he will be unclean until evening. |
Every garment (including leather) on which the semen is found is to be washed with water, and it will remain unclean until evening. | 17Any clothing or leather on which there is an emission of semen must be washed with water, and it will remain unclean until evening. |
When a man has sexual relations with a woman and the man releases semen, both are to bathe with water, and they will remain unclean until evening." | 18If a man lies with a woman and there is an emission of semen, both must bathe with water, and they will remain unclean until evening. |
"When a woman has a discharge, and the blood is her monthly menstrual discharge from her body, then for seven days she is to remain in her menstrual uncleanness. Whoever touches her will remain unclean until evening. | 19When a woman has a discharge consisting of blood from her body, she will be unclean due to her menstruation for seven days, and anyone who touches her will be unclean until evening. |
Everything that she sleeps on during her uncleanness will be unclean. Moreover, everything that she sits on will become unclean. | 20Anything on which she lies or sits during her menstruation will be unclean, |
Anyone who touches her bed is to wash his clothes and bathe with water, and he will remain unclean until evening. | 21and anyone who touches her bed must wash his clothes and bathe with water, and he will be unclean until evening. |
Anyone who touches any of the objects on which she has sat is to wash his clothes and bathe with water, and he will remain unclean until evening. | 22Whoever touches any furniture on which she was sitting must wash his clothes and bathe with water, and he will be unclean until evening. |
Any bed or other object on which she sat that he touches will make him unclean until evening. | 23And whether it is a bed or furniture on which she was sitting, whoever touches it will be unclean until evening. |
When a man has sexual relations with her and her menstrual uncleanness touches him, he will be unclean for seven days. Every bed where he sleeps will remain unclean. | 24If a man lies with her and her menstrual flow touches him, he will be unclean for seven days, and any bed on which he lies will become unclean. |
"When a woman has a continuous discharge of blood many days beyond the time of her menstrual uncleanness, or if she has a discharge that lasts beyond the days of her menstrual uncleanness, her uncleanness is to be treated like the days of her menstruation—she's unclean. | 25When a woman has a discharge of her blood for many days at a time other than her menstrual period, or if it continues beyond her period, she will be unclean all the days of her unclean discharge, just as she is during the days of her menstruation. |
Every bed on which she sleeps the whole time she has the discharge will be her own unclean bed, so that every object on which she sits becomes unclean like her menstrual uncleanness. | 26Any bed on which she lies or any furniture on which she sits during the days of her discharge will be unclean, like her bed during her menstrual period. |
Whoever touches them will become unclean. He is to wash his clothes and bathe with water and he will remain unclean until evening. | 27Anyone who touches these things will be unclean; he must wash his clothes and bathe with water, and he will be unclean until evening. |
"If she becomes clean with her discharge, then she is to count for herself seven days, after which she becomes clean. | 28When a woman is cleansed of her discharge, she must count off seven days, and after that she will be ceremonially clean. |
On the eighth day, she is to take for herself two turtledoves or two young pigeons and bring them to the priest at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting. | 29On the eighth day she is to take two turtledoves or two young pigeons and bring them to the priest at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting. |
Then the priest is to offer one for a sin offering and the other for a whole burnt offering. This is how the priest will make atonement in the LORD's presence for her regarding her unclean discharge. | 30The priest is to sacrifice one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering. In this way the priest will make atonement for her before the LORD for her unclean discharge. |
"So separate the Israelis from their uncleanness so that they won't die in their uncleanness if they defile my tent that is in their midst. | 31You must keep the children of Israel separate from their uncleanness, so that they do not die by defiling My tabernacle, which is among them. |
These are the regulations for one whose discharge of semen causes him to become unclean because of it, | 32This is the law of him who has a discharge, of the man who has an emission of semen whereby he is unclean, |
for her whose menstruation causes her to become ill, for anyone who has a discharge (whether male or female), and for the man who has sexual relations with one who is unclean." | 33of a woman in her menstrual period, of any male or female who has a discharge, and of a man who lies with an unclean woman.’ ” |
