Then Bildad the Shuhite replied: | 1Then Bildad the Shuhite replied: |
Dominion and dread belong to Him, the One who establishes harmony in the heavens. | 2“God is powerful and dreadful. He enforces peace in the heavens. |
Can His troops be numbered? Does His light not shine on everyone? | 3Who is able to count his heavenly army? Doesn’t his light shine on all the earth? |
How can a person be justified before God? How can one born of woman be pure? | 4How can a mortal be innocent before God? Can anyone born of a woman be pure? |
If even the moon does not shine and the stars are not pure in His sight, | 5God is more glorious than the moon; he shines brighter than the stars. |
how much less man, who is a maggot, and the son of man, who is a worm! | 6In comparison, people are maggots; we mortals are mere worms.” |
