Holman Christian Standard Bible | New International Version |
Then Bildad the Shuhite replied: | 1Then Bildad the Shuhite replied: |
Dominion and dread belong to Him, the One who establishes harmony in the heavens. | 2"Dominion and awe belong to God; he establishes order in the heights of heaven. |
Can His troops be numbered? Does His light not shine on everyone? | 3Can his forces be numbered? On whom does his light not rise? |
How can a person be justified before God? How can one born of woman be pure? | 4How then can a mortal be righteous before God? How can one born of woman be pure? |
If even the moon does not shine and the stars are not pure in His sight, | 5If even the moon is not bright and the stars are not pure in his eyes, |
how much less man, who is a maggot, and the son of man, who is a worm! | 6how much less a mortal, who is but a maggot-- a human being, who is only a worm!" |
