| 2Dominion and dread belong to Him, the One who establishes harmony in the heavens. | 2"Dominion and fear belong to God; who fashions peace in his high heaven. |
| 3Can His troops be numbered? Does His light not shine on everyone? | 3Is there any limit to his armies? On whom does his light not shine? |
| 4How can a person be justified before God? How can one born of woman be pure? | 4How can a human being become right with God? How can a human being be pure? |
| 5If even the moon does not shine and the stars are not pure in His sight, | 5Behold, even the moon isn't bright, and the stars aren't pure in his eyes. |
| 6how much less man, who is a maggot, and the son of man, who is a worm! | 6How much less is man, who is only a maggot, or a man's children, who are only worms!" |
