For the choir director: according to Jeduthun. A Davidic psalm. I am at rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him. | 1To the chief Musician, to Jeduthun, A Psalm of David. Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation. |
He alone is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I will never be shaken. | 2He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved. |
How long will you threaten a man? Will all of you attack as if he were a leaning wall or a tottering stone fence? | 3How long will ye imagine mischief against a man? ye shall be slain all of you: as a bowing wall shall ye be, and as a tottering fence. |
They only plan to bring him down from his high position. They take pleasure in lying; they bless with their mouths, but they curse inwardly. Selah | 4They only consult to cast him down from his excellency: they delight in lies: they bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah. |
Rest in God alone, my soul, for my hope comes from Him. | 5My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him. |
He alone is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I will not be shaken. | 6He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved. |
My salvation and glory depend on God, my strong rock. My refuge is in God. | 7In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. |
Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts before Him. God is our refuge. Selah | 8Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah. |
Men are only a vapor; exalted men, an illusion. Weighed in the scales, they go up; together they are less than a vapor. | 9Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: to be laid in the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity. |
Place no trust in oppression, or false hope in robbery. If wealth increases, pay no attention to it. | 10Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them. |
God has spoken once; I have heard this twice: strength belongs to God, | 11God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God. |
and faithful love belongs to You, LORD. For You repay each according to his works. | 12Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work. |
