| 1Therefore, while the promise to enter His rest remains, let us fear that none of you should miss it. | 1Therefore, while the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us fear lest any of you should seem to have failed to reach it. |
| 2For we also have received the good news just as they did; but the message they heard did not benefit them, since they were not united with those who heard it in faith | 2For good news came to us just as to them, but the message they heard did not benefit them, because they were not united by faith with those who listened. |
| 3(for we who have believed enter the rest), in keeping with what He has said: So I swore in My anger, they will not enter My rest. | 4for somewhere He has spoken about the seventh day in this way: And on the seventh day God rested from all His works. | 4For he has somewhere spoken of the seventh day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all his works.” |
