The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. | 1For the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands. |
Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. | 2Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. |
There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard. | 3Without speech or language, without a sound to be heard, |
Their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun, | 4their voice has gone out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens He has pitched a tent for the sun. |
which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber, and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy. | 5Like a bridegroom emerging from his chamber, like a champion rejoicing to run his course, |
Its rising is from the end of the heavens, and its circuit to the end of them, and there is nothing hidden from its heat. | 6it rises at one end of the heavens and runs its circuit to the other; nothing is deprived of its warmth. |
The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; | 7The Law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is trustworthy, making wise the simple. |
the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; | 8The precepts of the LORD are right, bringing joy to the heart; the commandments of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes. |
the fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the LORD are true, and righteous altogether. | 9The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever; the judgments of the LORD are true, being altogether righteous. |
More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. | 10They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb. |
Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward. | 11By them indeed Your servant is warned; in keeping them is great reward. |
Who can discern his errors? Declare me innocent from hidden faults. | 12Who can discern his own errors? Cleanse me from my hidden faults. |
Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me! Then I shall be blameless, and innocent of great transgression. | 13Keep Your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then I will be blameless and cleansed of great transgression. |
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer. | 14May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer. |
