10For there are many rebellious people, full of empty talk and deception, especially those from the circumcision party. | 10For there are many rebellious people, full of meaningless talk and deception, especially those of the circumcision group. |
11It is necessary to silence them; they are ruining entire households by teaching what they shouldn't in order to get money dishonestly. | 11They must be silenced, because they are disrupting whole households by teaching things they ought not to teach--and that for the sake of dishonest gain. |
12One of their very own prophets said, "Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons." | 12One of Crete's own prophets has said it: "Cretans are always liars, evil brutes, lazy gluttons." |
