LORD, I appeal to you. | 1By David. O LORD, I come before you in prayer. |
My God, I trust in you. Do not let me be disgraced; do not let my enemies gloat over me. | 2My God, I trust in you. Please do not let me be humiliated; do not let my enemies triumphantly rejoice over me! |
No one who waits for you will be disgraced; those who act treacherously without cause will be disgraced. | 3Certainly none who rely on you will be humiliated. Those who deal in treachery will be thwarted and humiliated. |
Make your ways known to me, LORD; teach me your paths. | 4Make me understand your ways, O LORD! Teach me your paths! |
Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; I wait for you all day long. | 5Guide me into your truth and teach me. For you are the God who delivers me; on you I rely all day long. |
Remember, LORD, your compassion and your faithful love, for they have existed from antiquity. | 6Remember your compassionate and faithful deeds, O LORD, for you have always acted in this manner. |
Do not remember the sins of my youth or my acts of rebellion; in keeping with your faithful love, remember me because of your goodness, LORD. | 7Do not hold against me the sins of my youth or my rebellious acts! Because you are faithful to me, extend to me your favor, O LORD! |
The LORD is good and upright; therefore he shows sinners the way. | 8The LORD is both kind and fair; that is why he teaches sinners the right way to live. |
He leads the humble in what is right and teaches them his way. | 9May he show the humble what is right! May he teach the humble his way! |
All the LORD's ways show faithful love and truth to those who keep his covenant and decrees. | 10The LORD always proves faithful and reliable to those who follow the demands of his covenant. |
LORD, for the sake of your name, forgive my iniquity, for it is immense. | 11For the sake of your reputation, O LORD, forgive my sin, because it is great. |
Who is this person who fears the LORD? He will show him the way he should choose. | 12The LORD shows his faithful followers the way they should live. |
He will live a good life, and his descendants will inherit the land. | 13They experience his favor; their descendants inherit the land. |
The secret counsel of the LORD is for those who fear him, and he reveals his covenant to them. | 14The LORD's loyal followers receive his guidance, and he reveals his covenantal demands to them. |
My eyes are always on the LORD, for he will pull my feet out of the net. | 15I continually look to the LORD for help, for he will free my feet from the enemy's net. |
Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am alone and afflicted. | 16Turn toward me and have mercy on me, for I am alone and oppressed! |
The distresses of my heart increase; bring me out of my sufferings. | 17Deliver me from my distress; rescue me from my suffering! |
Consider my affliction and trouble, and forgive all my sins. | 18See my pain and suffering! Forgive all my sins! |
Consider my enemies; they are numerous, and they hate me violently. | 19Watch my enemies, for they outnumber me; they hate me and want to harm me. |
Guard me and rescue me; do not let me be put to shame, for I take refuge in you. | 20Protect me and deliver me! Please do not let me be humiliated, for I have taken shelter in you! |
May integrity and what is right watch over me, for I wait for you. | 21May integrity and godliness protect me, for I rely on you! |
God, redeem Israel, from all its distresses. | 22O God, rescue Israel from all their distress! |
