Be gracious to me, God, for a man is trampling me; he fights and oppresses me all day long. | 1For the choir director; according to Jonath elem rehokim. A Mikhtam of David, when the Philistines seized him in Gath. Be gracious to me, O God, for man has trampled upon me; Fighting all day long he oppresses me. |
My adversaries trample me all day, for many arrogantly fight against me. | 2My foes have trampled upon me all day long, For they are many who fight proudly against me. |
When I am afraid, I will trust in you. | 3When I am afraid, I will put my trust in You. |
In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? | 4In God, whose word I praise, In God I have put my trust; I shall not be afraid. What can mere man do to me? |
They twist my words all day long; all their thoughts against me are evil. | 5All day long they distort my words; All their thoughts are against me for evil. |
They stir up strife, they lurk; they watch my steps while they wait to take my life. | 6They attack, they lurk, They watch my steps, As they have waited to take my life. |
Will they escape in spite of such sin? God, bring down the nations in wrath. | 7Because of wickedness, cast them forth, In anger put down the peoples, O God! |
You yourself have recorded my wanderings. Put my tears in your bottle. Are they not in your book? | 8You have taken account of my wanderings; Put my tears in Your bottle. Are they not in Your book? |
Then my enemies will retreat on the day when I call. This I know: God is for me. | 9Then my enemies will turn back in the day when I call; This I know, that God is for me. |
In God, whose word I praise, in the LORD, whose word I praise, | 10In God, whose word I praise, In the LORD, whose word I praise, |
in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mere humans do to me? | 11In God I have put my trust, I shall not be afraid. What can man do to me? |
I am obligated by vows to you, God; I will make my thank offerings to you. | 12Your vows are binding upon me, O God; I will render thank offerings to You. |
For you rescued me from death, even my feet from stumbling, to walk before God in the light of life. | 13For You have delivered my soul from death, Indeed my feet from stumbling, So that I may walk before God In the light of the living. |
