In You, O LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame. | 1In you, O LORD, I have taken shelter! Never let me be humiliated! |
In Your justice, rescue and deliver me; incline Your ear and save me. | 2Vindicate me by rescuing me! Listen to me! Deliver me! |
Be my rock of refuge, where I can always go. Give the command to save me, for You are my rock and my fortress. | 3Be my protector and refuge, a stronghold where I can be safe! For you are my high ridge and my stronghold. |
Deliver me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of the unjust and ruthless. | 4My God, rescue me from the power of the wicked, from the hand of the cruel oppressor! |
For You are my hope, O Lord GOD, my confidence from my youth. | 5For you give me confidence, O Lord; O LORD, I have trusted in you since I was young. |
I have leaned on You since birth; You pulled me from my mother’s womb. My praise is always for You. | 6I have leaned on you since birth; you pulled me from my mother's womb. I praise you continually. |
I have become a portent to many, but You are my strong refuge. | 7Many are appalled when they see me, but you are my secure shelter. |
My mouth is filled with Your praise and with Your splendor all day long. | 8I praise you constantly and speak of your splendor all day long. |
Do not discard me in my old age; do not forsake me when my strength fails. | 9Do not reject me in my old age! When my strength fails, do not abandon me! |
For my enemies speak against me, and those who lie in wait for my life conspire, | 10For my enemies talk about me; those waiting for a chance to kill me plot my demise. |
saying, “God has forsaken him; pursue him and seize him, for there is no one to rescue him.” | 11They say, "God has abandoned him. Run and seize him, for there is no one who will rescue him!" |
Be not far from me, O God. Hurry, O my God, to help me. | 12O God, do not remain far away from me! My God, hurry and help me! |
May the accusers of my soul be ashamed and consumed; may those who seek my harm be covered with scorn and disgrace. | 13May my accusers be humiliated and defeated! May those who want to harm me be covered with scorn and disgrace! |
But I will always hope and will praise You more and more. | 14As for me, I will wait continually, and will continue to praise you. |
My mouth will declare Your righteousness and Your salvation all day long, though I cannot know their full measure. | 15I will tell about your justice, and all day long proclaim your salvation, though I cannot fathom its full extent. |
I will enter in the strength of the Lord GOD; I will proclaim Your righteousness—Yours alone. | 16I will come and tell about the mighty acts of the sovereign LORD. I will proclaim your justice--yours alone. |
O God, You have taught me from my youth, and to this day I proclaim Your marvelous deeds. | 17O God, you have taught me since I was young, and I am still declaring your amazing deeds. |
Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, until I proclaim Your power to the next generation, Your might to all who are to come. | 18Even when I am old and gray, O God, do not abandon me, until I tell the next generation about your strength, and those coming after me about your power. |
Your righteousness reaches to the heavens, O God, You who have done great things. Who, O God, is like You? | 19Your justice, O God, extends to the skies above; you have done great things. O God, who can compare to you? |
Though You have shown me many troubles and misfortunes, You will revive me once again. Even from the depths of the earth You will bring me back up. | 20Though you have allowed me to experience much trouble and distress, revive me once again! Bring me up once again from the depths of the earth! |
You will increase my honor and comfort me once again. | 21Raise me to a position of great honor! Turn and comfort me! |
So I will praise You with the harp for Your faithfulness, O my God; I will sing praise to You with the lyre, O Holy One of Israel. | 22I will express my thanks to you with a stringed instrument, praising your faithfulness, O my God! I will sing praises to you accompanied by a harp, O Holy One of Israel! |
When I sing praise to You my lips will shout for joy, along with my soul, which You have redeemed. | 23My lips will shout for joy! Yes, I will sing your praises! I will praise you when you rescue me! |
My tongue will indeed proclaim Your righteousness all day long, for those who seek my harm are disgraced and confounded. | 24All day long my tongue will also tell about your justice, for those who want to harm me will be embarrassed and ashamed. |
