Of David. To You, O LORD, I lift up my soul; | 1A Psalm of David. Unto thee, O LORD, do I lift up my soul. |
in You, my God, I trust. Do not let me be put to shame; do not let my enemies exult over me. | 2O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me. |
Surely none who wait for You will be put to shame; but those who are faithless without cause will be disgraced. | 3Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause. |
Show me Your ways, O LORD; teach me Your paths. | 4Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths. |
Guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; all day long I wait for You. | 5Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day. |
Remember, O LORD, Your compassion and loving devotion, for they are from age to age. | 6Remember, O LORD, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old. |
Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my rebellious acts; remember me according to Your loving devotion, because of Your goodness, O LORD. | 7Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness' sake, O LORD. |
Good and upright is the LORD; therefore He shows sinners the way. | 8Good and upright is the LORD: therefore will he teach sinners in the way. |
He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them His way. | 9The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way. |
All the LORD’s ways are loving and faithful to those who keep His covenant and His decrees. | 10All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies. |
For the sake of Your name, O LORD, forgive my iniquity, for it is great. | 11For thy name's sake, O LORD, pardon mine iniquity; for it is great. |
Who is the man who fears the LORD? He will instruct him in the path chosen for him. | 12What man is he that feareth the LORD? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose. |
His soul will dwell in prosperity, and his descendants will inherit the land. | 13His soul shall dwell at ease; and his seed shall inherit the earth. |
The LORD confides in those who fear Him, and reveals His covenant to them. | 14The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant. |
My eyes are always on the LORD, for He will free my feet from the mesh. | 15Mine eyes are ever toward the LORD; for he shall pluck my feet out of the net. |
Turn to me and be gracious, for I am lonely and afflicted. | 16Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me; for I am desolate and afflicted. |
The troubles of my heart increase; free me from my distress. | 17The troubles of my heart are enlarged: O bring thou me out of my distresses. |
Consider my affliction and trouble, and take away all my sins. | 18Look upon mine affliction and my pain; and forgive all my sins. |
Consider my enemies, for they are many, and they hate me with vicious hatred. | 19Consider mine enemies; for they are many; and they hate me with cruel hatred. |
Guard my soul and deliver me; let me not be put to shame, for I take refuge in You. | 20O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee. |
May integrity and uprightness preserve me, because I wait for You. | 21Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee. |
Redeem Israel, O God, from all its distress. | 22Redeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles. |
