1My soul is grieved with my life. I reasoned in my reasoning and I shall speak in the bitterness of my soul 2And I shall say to God: “Do not condemn me; teach me about what it is for which you judge me 3Is it not enough to you that you treat unjustly and you despise the work of your hands, and you look upon the mind of the wicked? 4Are your eyes as the eyes of flesh, or are you seeing like a man sees? 5Or are your days as the days of man, or your years as the days of a man 6That you inquire about my debts and about my sins? 7And you know that I am innocent, and there is none who is delivered from your hands 8Your hands labored in me and made me, and after this you choose to condemn me and to sink me! 9Remember that you have made me like clay and you return me to the dust 10And you churned me like milk and you curdled me like cheese 11In skin and flesh you have clothed me, and with muscles and with bones you have strengthened me 12And life and peace you have made with me, and my spirit has kept your commandments 13And these things you have hidden in your heart; I have known that this was in your mind 14For if I have sinned, you keep watch over me, and from my sins you do not declare me innocent 15If I have sinned, woe to me! And if I am justified, I shall not lift my head. I am filled with disgrace and I have seen affliction! 16And if I will rise up as a lion, you will hunt me and turn like a giant against me 17And you oppose your weapon against me and multiply your wrath toward me, and you spring armies against me 18And why have you brought me out from the womb? I might have died and an eye would not have seen me 19And I had been as if I had not been, and from the womb to the tomb they would have carried me 20Few are the days of my life. Depart from me and I shall be quiet and I shall be comforted a little 21Before I shall go and I shall not return again, to the land of darkness and of the shadows of death 22Of wasting away as deep darkness and shadows of death, and there are no ranks of generations in it, and there is languishing as deep darkness The Peshitta Holy Bible Translated Translated by Glenn David Bauscher Glenn David Bauscher Lulu Publishing Copyright © 2018 Lulu Publishing 3rd edition Copyright © 2019 |
