In Philippians 1:12-14 , Paul reflects on his imprisonment, saying, "Now I want you to know, brothers, that my circumstances have actually served to advance the gospel. And most of the brothers, confident in the Lord by my chains, now dare more greatly to speak the word without fear."

Romans 5:3-5 offers hope, stating, "Not only that, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.
