The term "remainest" is an archaic form of the verb "remain," often found in older English translations of the Bible. It conveys the idea of continuing to exist, endure, or persist over time. In the context of Scripture, "remainest" is used to describe the eternal and unchanging nature of God, His promises, and His Word.

Biblical Usage:

The concept of remaining is significant in the Bible, as it often highlights the contrast between the temporal nature of the world and the eternal nature of God. While the Berean Standard Bible does not use the term "remainest," the idea is present in various passages that emphasize God's enduring presence and faithfulness.

God's Eternal Nature:

One of the key aspects of God's character is His immutability—He does not change. This is reflected in passages that speak of His eternal existence. For example, Hebrews 1:11-12 states, "They will perish, but You remain; they will all wear out like a garment. You will roll them up like a robe; like a garment they will be changed. But You remain the same, and Your years will never end." This passage underscores the permanence of God in contrast to the fleeting nature of creation.

The Endurance of God's Word:

The Bible also emphasizes the enduring nature of God's Word. In Isaiah 40:8 , it is written, "The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever." This verse highlights the reliability and constancy of God's promises, which remain steadfast despite the changing circumstances of the world.

Believers' Call to Remain:

Believers are also called to remain in Christ, reflecting a life of steadfast faith and obedience. In John 15:4 , Jesus instructs His disciples, "Remain in Me, and I will remain in you. Just as no branch can bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in Me." This call to remain signifies a deep, abiding relationship with Christ, essential for spiritual growth and fruitfulness.

The Eternal Kingdom:

The concept of remaining is also applied to the Kingdom of God, which is described as everlasting. In Daniel 7:14 , it is prophesied, "And to Him was given dominion, glory, and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and His kingdom is one that will never be destroyed." This passage assures believers of the eternal reign of Christ, a kingdom that remains unshaken.

In summary, the idea encapsulated by "remainest" in biblical terms is a profound reminder of the eternal, unchanging nature of God, His Word, and His Kingdom, as well as the call for believers to remain steadfast in their faith.
