The term "excellently" is not directly found in the Berean Standard Bible , but the concept of excellence is woven throughout the Scriptures, reflecting the nature and character of God, as well as the standard to which believers are called. Excellence in the biblical context often relates to moral virtue, skill, and the pursuit of godliness.

Divine Excellence

God's nature is the ultimate standard of excellence. His works, character, and attributes are described as perfect and beyond compare. In Psalm 8:1 , the psalmist declares, "O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! You have set Your glory above the heavens." This verse highlights the excellence of God's name and His glory, which surpasses all creation.

The excellence of God's creation is also evident in Genesis 1, where God repeatedly observes that His creation is "good," culminating in Genesis 1:31 , "God saw all that He had made, and it was very good." This declaration underscores the perfection and excellence inherent in God's creative work.

Excellence in Worship and Service

Believers are called to reflect God's excellence in their worship and service. In 1 Corinthians 10:31 , Paul instructs, "So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God." This verse emphasizes that all actions, even the most mundane, should be performed with excellence as an act of worship to God.

The pursuit of excellence is also evident in the construction of the Tabernacle and the Temple, where God provided specific instructions for craftsmanship and materials, reflecting His desire for beauty and precision in worship (Exodus 31:1-11, 1 Kings 6).

Moral and Spiritual Excellence

The New Testament further encourages believers to pursue moral and spiritual excellence. In Philippians 4:8 , Paul exhorts, "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think on these things." This passage calls believers to focus their thoughts on virtues that reflect God's character.

Peter also emphasizes the importance of moral excellence in the believer's life. In 2 Peter 1:5 , he writes, "For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith virtue; and to virtue, knowledge." The term "virtue" here can be understood as moral excellence, indicating that believers are to actively cultivate qualities that align with God's holiness.

Excellence in Spiritual Gifts and Ministry

The exercise of spiritual gifts is another area where excellence is encouraged. In 1 Corinthians 12-14, Paul discusses the use of spiritual gifts within the church, urging believers to desire the greater gifts and to exercise them in love, which is "the most excellent way" (1 Corinthians 12:31). This teaching underscores the importance of using one's gifts effectively and lovingly for the edification of the body of Christ.

In summary, while the specific term "excellently" may not appear in the biblical text, the concept of excellence permeates Scripture, calling believers to reflect God's perfect nature in their thoughts, actions, and service.
