The term "centrally" does not appear directly in the text of the Bible; however, the concept of centrality is significant in various theological and biblical contexts. The idea of centrality can be understood in terms of God's central role in creation, worship, and the life of believers, as well as the central place of certain locations and events in biblical history.

God's Central Role

In the biblical narrative, God is portrayed as the central figure in all of creation and history. Genesis 1:1 states, "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth," emphasizing God's foundational and central role in the universe. Throughout Scripture, God is depicted as the sovereign ruler and sustainer of all things, as seen in Colossians 1:17 : "He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together."

Centrality in Worship

The centrality of God is also evident in the worship practices of Israel and the early church. The Shema, found in Deuteronomy 6:4-5 , declares, "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is One. And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength." This passage underscores the central place of God in the life and worship of His people.

In the New Testament, Jesus Christ is recognized as the central figure of Christian faith and worship. Philippians 2:9-11 states, "Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name above all names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

Central Locations and Events

Certain locations and events hold central significance in the biblical narrative. Jerusalem, for example, is a city of central importance. It is the site of the Temple, the center of Jewish worship, and the location of significant events in the life of Jesus, including His crucifixion and resurrection. Psalm 122:3-4 speaks of Jerusalem: "Jerusalem is built up as a city united together, where the tribes go up, the tribes of the LORD, as a testimony for Israel, to give thanks to the name of the LORD."

The crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus are central events in the New Testament, representing the fulfillment of God's redemptive plan. 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 highlights their importance: "For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures."

Central Teachings

The central teachings of the Bible revolve around the themes of love, redemption, and the kingdom of God. Jesus summarized the Law and the Prophets with the command to love God and neighbor, as recorded in Matthew 22:37-40 : "Jesus declared, 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

In summary, while the term "centrally" is not explicitly used in the Bible, the concept of centrality is woven throughout Scripture, emphasizing God's preeminence, the centrality of worship, significant locations and events, and foundational teachings.
