New Living Translation | King James Bible |
Answer me when I call to you, O God who declares me innocent. Free me from my troubles. Have mercy on me and hear my prayer. | 1To the chief Musician on Neginoth, A Psalm of David. Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer. |
How long will you people ruin my reputation? How long will you make groundless accusations? How long will you continue your lies? Interlude | 2O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah. |
You can be sure of this: The LORD set apart the godly for himself. The LORD will answer when I call to him. | 3But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him. |
Don’t sin by letting anger control you. Think about it overnight and remain silent. Interlude | 4Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah. |
Offer sacrifices in the right spirit, and trust the LORD. | 5Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD. |
Many people say, “Who will show us better times?” Let your face smile on us, LORD. | 6There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? LORD, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us. |
You have given me greater joy than those who have abundant harvests of grain and new wine. | 7Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased. |
In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O LORD, will keep me safe. | 8I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety. |
