New Living Translation | International Standard Version |
Come, let us sing to the LORD! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. | 1Come! Let us sing joyfully to the LORD! Let us shout for joy to the rock of our salvation. |
Let us come to him with thanksgiving. Let us sing psalms of praise to him. | 2Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us shout with songs of praise to him. |
For the LORD is a great God, a great King above all gods. | 3For the LORD is an awesome God; a great king above all divine beings. |
He holds in his hands the depths of the earth and the mightiest mountains. | 4He holds in his hand the lowest parts of the earth and the mountain peaks belong to him. |
The sea belongs to him, for he made it. His hands formed the dry land, too. | 5The sea that he made belongs to him, along with the dry land that his hands formed. |
Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the LORD our maker, | 6Come! Let us worship and bow down; let us kneel in the presence of the LORD, who made us. |
for he is our God. We are the people he watches over, the flock under his care. If only you would listen to his voice today! | 7For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture and the flock in his care. If only you would listen to his voice today, |
The LORD says, “Don’t harden your hearts as Israel did at Meribah, as they did at Massah in the wilderness. | 8do not be stubborn like your ancestors were at Meribah, as on that day at Massah, in the wilderness, |
For there your ancestors tested and tried my patience, even though they saw everything I did. | 9where your ancestors tested me. They tested me, even though they had seen my awesome deeds. |
For forty years I was angry with them, and I said, ‘They are a people whose hearts turn away from me. They refuse to do what I tell them.’ | 10For forty years I loathed that generation, so I said, "They are a people whose hearts continuously err, and they have not understood my ways." |
So in my anger I took an oath: ‘They will never enter my place of rest.’” | 11So in my anger I declared an oath: "They are not to enter my place of rest." |
