New Living Translation | Berean Study Bible |
Come, let us sing to the LORD! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. | 1Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout to the Rock of our salvation! |
Let us come to him with thanksgiving. Let us sing psalms of praise to him. | 2Let us enter His presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to Him in song. |
For the LORD is a great God, a great King above all gods. | 3For the LORD is a great God, a great King above all gods. |
He holds in his hands the depths of the earth and the mightiest mountains. | 4In His hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to Him. |
The sea belongs to him, for he made it. His hands formed the dry land, too. | 5The sea is His, for He made it, and His hands formed the dry land. |
Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the LORD our maker, | 6O come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD our Maker. |
for he is our God. We are the people he watches over, the flock under his care. If only you would listen to his voice today! | 7For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, the sheep under His care. Today, if you hear His voice, |
The LORD says, “Don’t harden your hearts as Israel did at Meribah, as they did at Massah in the wilderness. | 8do not harden your hearts as you did at Meribah, in the day at Massah in the wilderness, |
For there your ancestors tested and tried my patience, even though they saw everything I did. | 9where your fathers tested and tried Me, though they had seen My work. |
For forty years I was angry with them, and I said, ‘They are a people whose hearts turn away from me. They refuse to do what I tell them.’ | 10For forty years I was angry with that generation, and I said, “They are a people whose hearts go astray, and they have not known My ways.” |
So in my anger I took an oath: ‘They will never enter my place of rest.’” | 11So I swore on oath in My anger, “They shall never enter My rest.” |
