New Living Translation | Berean Study Bible |
Praise the LORD, who is my rock. He trains my hands for war and gives my fingers skill for battle. | 1Of David. Blessed be the LORD, my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle. |
He is my loving ally and my fortress, my tower of safety, my rescuer. He is my shield, and I take refuge in him. He makes the nations submit to me. | 2He is my steadfast love and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer. He is my shield, in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples under me. |
O LORD, what are human beings that you should notice them, mere mortals that you should think about them? | 3O LORD, what is man, that You regard him, the son of man that You think of him? |
For they are like a breath of air; their days are like a passing shadow. | 4Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow. |
Open the heavens, LORD, and come down. Touch the mountains so they billow smoke. | 5Part Your heavens, O LORD, and come down; touch the mountains, that they may smoke. |
Hurl your lightning bolts and scatter your enemies! Shoot your arrows and confuse them! | 6Flash forth Your lightning and scatter them; shoot Your arrows and rout them. |
Reach down from heaven and rescue me; rescue me from deep waters, from the power of my enemies. | 7Reach down from on high; set me free and rescue me from the deep waters, from the grasp of foreigners, |
Their mouths are full of lies; they swear to tell the truth, but they lie instead. | 8whose mouths speak falsehood, whose right hands are deceitful. |
I will sing a new song to you, O God! I will sing your praises with a ten-stringed harp. | 9I will sing to You a new song, O God; on a harp of ten strings I will make music to You— |
For you grant victory to kings! You rescued your servant David from the fatal sword. | 10to Him who gives victory to kings, who frees His servant David from the deadly sword. |
Save me! Rescue me from the power of my enemies. Their mouths are full of lies; they swear to tell the truth, but they lie instead. | 11Set me free and rescue me from the grasp of foreigners, whose mouths speak falsehood, whose right hands are deceitful. |
May our sons flourish in their youth like well-nurtured plants. May our daughters be like graceful pillars, carved to beautify a palace. | 12Then our sons will be like plants nurtured in their youth, our daughters like corner pillars carved to adorn a palace. |
May our barns be filled with crops of every kind. May the flocks in our fields multiply by the thousands, even tens of thousands, | 13Our storehouses will be full, supplying all manner of produce; our flocks will bring forth thousands, tens of thousands in our fields. |
and may our oxen be loaded down with produce. May there be no enemy breaking through our walls, no going into captivity, no cries of alarm in our town squares. | 14Our oxen will bear great loads. There will be no breach in the walls, no going into captivity, and no cry of lament in our streets. |
Yes, joyful are those who live like this! Joyful indeed are those whose God is the LORD. | 15Blessed are the people of whom this is so; blessed are the people whose God is the LORD. |
