To the Chief Musician. To Jeduthun. A Psalm of David. Truly my soul silently waits for God; From Him comes my salvation. | 1For the choir director; according to Jeduthun. A Psalm of David. My soul waits in silence for God only; From Him is my salvation. |
He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved. | 2He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be greatly shaken. |
How long will you attack a man? You shall be slain, all of you, Like a leaning wall and a tottering fence. | 3How long will you assail a man, That you may murder him, all of you, Like a leaning wall, like a tottering fence? |
They only consult to cast him down from his high position; They delight in lies; They bless with their mouth, But they curse inwardly. Selah | 4They have counseled only to thrust him down from his high position; They delight in falsehood; They bless with their mouth, But inwardly they curse. Selah. |
My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is from Him. | 5My soul, wait in silence for God only, For my hope is from Him. |
He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved. | 6He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be shaken. |
In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, And my refuge, is in God. | 7On God my salvation and my glory rest; The rock of my strength, my refuge is in God. |
Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah | 8Trust in Him at all times, O people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah. |
Surely men of low degree are a vapor, Men of high degree are a lie; If they are weighed on the scales, They are altogether lighter than vapor. | 9Men of low degree are only vanity and men of rank are a lie; In the balances they go up; They are together lighter than breath. |
Do not trust in oppression, Nor vainly hope in robbery; If riches increase, Do not set your heart on them. | 10Do not trust in oppression And do not vainly hope in robbery; If riches increase, do not set your heart upon them. |
God has spoken once, Twice I have heard this: That power belongs to God. | 11Once God has spoken; Twice I have heard this: That power belongs to God; |
Also to You, O Lord, belongs mercy; For You render to each one according to his work. | 12And lovingkindness is Yours, O Lord, For You recompense a man according to his work. |
