New King James Version | King James Bible |
Where has your beloved gone, O fairest among women? Where has your beloved turned aside, That we may seek him with you? | 1Whither is thy beloved gone, O thou fairest among women? whither is thy beloved turned aside? that we may seek him with thee. |
My beloved has gone to his garden, To the beds of spices, To feed his flock in the gardens, And to gather lilies. | 2My beloved is gone down into his garden, to the beds of spices, to feed in the gardens, and to gather lilies. |
I am my beloved’s, And my beloved is mine. He feeds his flock among the lilies. | 3I am my beloved's, and my beloved is mine: he feedeth among the lilies. |
O my love, you are as beautiful as Tirzah, Lovely as Jerusalem, Awesome as an army with banners! | 4Thou art beautiful, O my love, as Tirzah, comely as Jerusalem, terrible as an army with banners. |
Turn your eyes away from me, For they have overcome me. Your hair is like a flock of goats Going down from Gilead. | 5Turn away thine eyes from me, for they have overcome me: thy hair is as a flock of goats that appear from Gilead. |
Your teeth are like a flock of sheep Which have come up from the washing; Every one bears twins, And none is barren among them. | 6Thy teeth are as a flock of sheep which go up from the washing, whereof every one beareth twins, and there is not one barren among them. |
Like a piece of pomegranate Are your temples behind your veil. | 7As a piece of a pomegranate are thy temples within thy locks. |
There are sixty queens And eighty concubines, And virgins without number. | 8There are threescore queens, and fourscore concubines, and virgins without number. |
My dove, my perfect one, Is the only one, The only one of her mother, The favorite of the one who bore her. The daughters saw her And called her blessed, The queens and the concubines, And they praised her. | 9My dove, my undefiled is but one; she is the only one of her mother, she is the choice one of her that bare her. The daughters saw her, and blessed her; yea, the queens and the concubines, and they praised her. |
Who is she who looks forth as the morning, Fair as the moon, Clear as the sun, Awesome as an army with banners? | 10Who is she that looketh forth as the morning, fair as the moon, clear as the sun, and terrible as an army with banners? |
I went down to the garden of nuts To see the verdure of the valley, To see whether the vine had budded And the pomegranates had bloomed. | 11I went down into the garden of nuts to see the fruits of the valley, and to see whether the vine flourished, and the pomegranates budded. |
Before I was even aware, My soul had made me As the chariots of my noble people. | 12Or ever I was aware, my soul made me like the chariots of Amminadib. |
Return, return, O Shulamite; Return, return, that we may look upon you! What would you see in the Shulamite— As it were, the dance of the two camps? | 13Return, return, O Shulamite; return, return, that we may look upon thee. What will ye see in the Shulamite? As it were the company of two armies. |
