A Psalm of David. LORD, I cry out to You; Make haste to me! Give ear to my voice when I cry out to You. | 1A Psalm of David. LORD, I cry unto thee: make haste unto me; give ear unto my voice, when I cry unto thee. |
Let my prayer be set before You as incense, The lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. | 2Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. |
Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips. | 3Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips. |
Do not incline my heart to any evil thing, To practice wicked works With men who work iniquity; And do not let me eat of their delicacies. | 4Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to practise wicked works with men that work iniquity: and let me not eat of their dainties. |
Let the righteous strike me; It shall be a kindness. And let him rebuke me; It shall be as excellent oil; Let my head not refuse it. For still my prayer is against the deeds of the wicked. | 5Let the righteous smite me; it shall be a kindness: and let him reprove me; it shall be an excellent oil, which shall not break my head: for yet my prayer also shall be in their calamities. |
Their judges are overthrown by the sides of the cliff, And they hear my words, for they are sweet. | 6When their judges are overthrown in stony places, they shall hear my words; for they are sweet. |
Our bones are scattered at the mouth of the grave, As when one plows and breaks up the earth. | 7Our bones are scattered at the grave's mouth, as when one cutteth and cleaveth wood upon the earth. |
But my eyes are upon You, O GOD the Lord; In You I take refuge; Do not leave my soul destitute. | 8But mine eyes are unto thee, O GOD the Lord: in thee is my trust; leave not my soul destitute. |
Keep me from the snares they have laid for me, And from the traps of the workers of iniquity. | 9Keep me from the snares which they have laid for me, and the gins of the workers of iniquity. |
Let the wicked fall into their own nets, While I escape safely. | 10Let the wicked fall into their own nets, whilst that I withal escape. |
