1A Song of Ascents. In my distress I cried to the LORD, And He heard me.1שִׁ֗יר הַֽמַּ֫עֲל֥וֹת אֶל־ יְ֭הוָה בַּצָּרָ֣תָה לִּ֑י קָ֝רָ֗אתִי וַֽיַּעֲנֵֽנִי׃
2Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips And from a deceitful tongue.2יְֽהוָ֗ה הַצִּ֣ילָה נַ֭פְשִׁי מִשְּׂפַת־ שֶׁ֑קֶר מִלָּשׁ֥וֹן רְמִיָּֽה׃
3What shall be given to you, Or what shall be done to you, You false tongue?3מַה־ יִּתֵּ֣ן לְ֭ךָ וּמַה־ יֹּסִ֥יף לָ֗ךְ לָשׁ֥וֹן רְמִיָּֽה׃
4Sharp arrows of the warrior, With coals of the broom tree!4חִצֵּ֣י גִבּ֣וֹר שְׁנוּנִ֑ים עִ֝֗ם גַּחֲלֵ֥י רְתָמִֽים׃
5Woe is me, that I dwell in Meshech, That I dwell among the tents of Kedar!5אֽוֹיָה־ לִ֭י כִּי־ גַ֣רְתִּי מֶ֑שֶׁךְ שָׁ֝כַ֗נְתִּי עִֽם־ אָהֳלֵ֥י קֵדָֽר׃
6My soul has dwelt too long With one who hates peace.6רַ֭בַּת שָֽׁכְנָה־ לָּ֣הּ נַפְשִׁ֑י עִ֝֗ם שׂוֹנֵ֥א שָׁלֽוֹם׃
7I am for peace; But when I speak, they are for war.7אֲ‍ֽנִי־ שָׁ֭לוֹם וְכִ֣י אֲדַבֵּ֑ר הֵ֝֗מָּה לַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃
